This sprayer makes painting almost fun.

The Good

-Shoots paint right out of a 5 gallon bucket.
-Makes painting about 3x faster than using a roller.
-Easy to clean up.
-Even a novice can pick it up.
-Much less over spray than I expected.
-Many places carry parts. Home depot, Lowes, and Dunn Edwards to name a few

Some Points

-This sprayer is for homeowner use. In comparison to commercial Graco Sprayers, the X7 pump is encased within the plastic making it hard to service if the pump ever seized. I was told by an employee at Dunn Edwards that if the pump seizes, you are better off buying a new sprayer. With that said, the commercial Gracos pump can easily be removed and replaced for about $125. Their cost is about $700 from Dunn Edwards. (I don't see them for sale on Amazon). I bought the refurbished version of this sprayer to save a few bucks, the one I got worked great. I have rented sprayers in the past and was never satisfied with the consistency of the spray, but this one, so far, has done a good job. I sprayed ceilings and crown molding (with the tip extension), base trim, doors, and walls. I had a few runs when I would hesitate, but overall the sprayer did a good job. I was particularly concerned about getting acceptable results on the doors, but they turned out great. I sprayed heavy latex right out of the can. Clean up is always a pain with a sprayer but this was easier than some I have used. Someone suggested spraying the hose and sprayer with spray cooking oil to make clean up easier and that was a great suggestion.

I did quite a bit of research before buying this product. I was remembering the old type of home sprayer that sprayed everything in site along with what you wanted to spray and that dribbled paint here and there that you step in and track even farther. Purchased this to replace an old Wagner HVLP sprayer. The gun is well made and easy to use and adjust. I have used it to spray polyurethane on kitchen cabinets and crown moulding so far. The flexible hose would be nice and I may purchase it in the future as the heavier rubber hose is a little cumbersome. I thought $30 was a little steep, but it may be worth it. I am very happy with the purchase and wish I had bought this a few years earlier. If you are in the market for a nice HVLP spray system, you won't be disappointed....

I just bought this sprayer two days ago to paint a fence, a bench and a deck. It worked like a charm so far (3 gallons). The set up is easy. . .I watched the DVD twice: once when I brought it home and once just before starting it. It was helpful. They have attached a quick start up card to the handle for easy reference, after you have been spraying and you are tired and you are thinking "Now what do I need to do before I pack it in for dinner?" A few easy steps are spelled out.

The clean up? Easy because you hook up a garden hose to the pump, and boom, you are done. Cleaning the gun and the filters take about as long as cleaning the brushes would have anyway.

Advice from an amateur: 1)Live large and get the swivel for the gun. 2) Buy some extra storage fluid. 3)Think about where you want to put the sprayer before you paint. I purchased this sprayer after returning a simmular sprayer with about half the horsepower as the Graco XR5. I was very please not only with the product but also the price. The 3/8 horse power sprayer that I returned didn't have enough horse power to spray Behr acrylic stain paint after it's been thinned, even at full power. With the 5/8 horse power motor, the XR5 sprays the same paint at the lowest power with ease, no thinning required. The XR5, with the 5/8 horsepower motor, costs about $20 more than the 3/8 horse power sprayer.

This sprayer is also easy to clean.

For $275 this is an excellent sprayer at an excellent price.
